Another sculpture commissioned as a joint project by Multiculturalism Canada and the City Of White Rock in 1988. This installation by Calvin Turner also sits alongside the West Beach promenade. Its companion piece ‘Metamorphosis’ , although carved by a different sculptor, sits about a hundred metres to the east close to the Tourist Information kiosk. Despite the work involved in the creation of these works, I rarely see anyone examine the works or read the plaques. Not many people appear to have a genuine appreciation of art and probably assume carving and polishing a large piece of solid granite takes no more talent than slapping a coat of white paint on a rock.
