Always find the beach a pleasant place to be with the wind blowing and the rain pelting sideways. So we took a walk out to Blackie’s Spit where we had the place all to ourselves. On the way back I took a closer look at the breakwater construction. Sometime in the last few years the original wooden structures have been replaced with what appears to be some kind of industrial plastic which will either last for centuries or dissolve rapidly in the salt water. So well I was researching different types of breakwater methods, I discovered that the proper name to use is groyne. Never let a day go by without learning a new word.
